Overview

The Senior HR Generalist in our automotive manufacturing plant plays a vital role in supporting the Plant HR Manager and maintaining effective labor relations, whether in a unionized environment or a non-union setting. This position is responsible for implementing HR policies and programs that align with organizational objectives, while also managing various aspects of the employee lifecycle. Key responsibilities include providing guidance on employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and managing onsite staffing vendors. The Senior HR Generalist will support collective bargaining processes when applicable, interpret union contracts, and assist in dispute resolution and grievance procedures. Additionally, they will coordinate training initiatives, manage workers' compensation cases, and contribute to fostering positive relationships between management and employees. This position requires a strong understanding of labor laws, experience in both union and non-union environments, excellent communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex employee relations issues while maintaining impartiality and supporting a productive work environment.

Responsibilities

Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Evaluates, recommends, and assists implementation of HR processes and procedures
  • Administer training and development activities, including supporting training of new business unit HR team members both at operations and Corporate level.
  • Maintain employee service award processing and recognition
  • Assist in implementing HR policies, programs, and processes to support production operations and team member needs.
  • Provide guidance, counseling, and problem-solving support to employees, managers, supervisors, and team leaders on HR-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Assist in developing strategies to enhance employee engagement and maintain a positive work environment in both unionized and non-unionized setting.
  • Support managing onsite staffing vendors for the hourly labor force.
  • Managing and validating employee payroll data prior to transmission to corporate payroll department.
  • Help lead employee engagement initiatives and positive culture-building programs.
  • Participate in digital transformation efforts within the HR department to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage workers' compensation and return-to-work actions.
  • Assisting in dispute resolution and grievance procedures.
  • Maintain and update HRIS systems, employee files, and related documentation
  • Create and track related purchase orders
  • Process and track related invoices
  • Review and update departmental key performance indicators
  • Lead BOS report population, maintain and analyze additional monthly reports as assigned
  • Assist with employee communications.
  • Assist with the annual benefits open enrollment and implementation.
  • Acting HR Manager for in times of HR Manager absence and/or vacancy
  • Support overall Piston Automotive HR department with other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Human Resource Generalist or related role
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)
  • PHR and/or SPHR preferred but not required
  • Proficient with HRIS software, preferable ADP HRIS System (at an intermediate to advance level)
  • Proficient in MS Office products (at an intermediate to advance level)
