Overview

Responsible for the management and execution of the Corporate Engineering Team functions. Coordinates and monitors technical matters, program costs, project staffing, timing and other key metrics to ensure overall project success. Directly supervises a team of engineers; responsibilities will range from daily task management, coaching & development, to performance management of each direct report.  Provides direction to corporate engineers, and coordinates communication across all functional groups and suppliers. Provides technical engineering advice and counsel to internal and external stakeholders. This role is expected to be a working supervisor role, with direct project responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing Leadership & Support

  • Provide engineering expertise to ensure manufacturing projects are completed on time and within budget.

  • Drive lean manufacturing concepts (OEE, Kanban, Visual Factory, TPM) across production operations.

  • Support plant engineering and maintenance teams with guidance on process improvement and equipment performance.

  • Review and approve process documentation, including Process Flows, Cycle Time Analysis, PFMEA, and Work Instructions.

  • Assist in evaluating new suppliers, products, and technologies to support continuous improvement and competitiveness.

Project & Launch Management

  • Support all new manufacturing launch activities to meet or exceed company goals for safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

  • Develop manufacturing project specifications and timing plans, including equipment, tooling, and facility requirements.

  • Oversee procurement, design, build, installation, and debugging of production process equipment through SOP.

  • Participate in program meetings internally and with customers to address manufacturing schedules, issues, and deliverables.

  • Support development of annual and project-based capital expenditure budgets related to manufacturing.

Performance & Accountability

  • Ensure successful delivery of manufacturing launch commitments and continuous improvement goals.

  • Track, prioritize, and resolve open manufacturing-related issues while maintaining project timelines.

  • Provide supervision and performance management for the manufacturing engineering team, including goal setting and reviews.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with ability to drive results across diverse teams
  • Experience in ILVS/JIT/Broadcast environments preferred
  • Skilled in Lean Manufacturing tools: 5S, Kanban, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and Root Cause Analysis
  • Deep knowledge of automotive assembly systems (body, trim, chassis, powertrain, interior, electrical)
  • Hands-on expertise with manual/automated assembly systems, process flow design, and PFMEA documentation
  • Solid understanding of industrial safety standards
  • Willingness to travel to support team and launch activities
